The Chamberlain

Gastro Pub
120 Quay Street, Auckland Downtown
The Chamberlain

Sitting pretty across from Auckland Harbour, The Chamberlain has become a favoured spot for the 9-5'ers in Auckland. To begin with, the high stools and tabletops encourage socialising and moving around to make sure everyone’s included in the obligatory after-work session. To drink, take your pick from The Chamberlain’s 14 rotating tap beers, all written up daily on a black chalkboard. If you’re after something lighter, the wine and cocktail list (full of sharing jugs too) is your best friend.

White + Wongs On The Viaduct

Asian Fusion
Corner of Quay Street & Hobson Street, Auckland Viaduct
White + Wong's

Looking for a lush view with a side of cocktails? White + Wong’s has you covered on both. The waterfront location literally sits on the Auckland Harbour, with an overhanging patio for socialising and sipping. On the menu you’ll find the usual beers, wines, and spirits–But, the cocktail list is where things get interesting. Opt for a classic Shaking up the classics, try your favourite cocktail with a twist. Mandarin Daiquiris, Fig Martinis, and Tiger Sours all round!

The Glass Goose

Modern New Zealand
78 Federal Street, Auckland CBD
The Glass Goose

Conveniently situated bang in the middle of town, The Glass Goose is the semi-newly opened rooftop bar opposite Sky City. Head up the black iron stairs and you’re entering a Parisian vision. Venture further, and you’re standing on a rooftop bar overlooking the twinkling city. Once again, the cocktail list is where you want to avert your attention. All the standards (Espresso martinis, Manhattans, Bellinis) are there, as well as special creations from Glass Goose’s inventive mind as well.

The Cav

Modern New Zealand
68 College Hill, Ponsonby
The Cav

A steep walk up College Hill results in a magnificent view of the Auckland skyline. Capitalising on the prime real estate, The Cav have set up shop with some of the best pub grub to go with a crisp cold brew or bubbles. We won’t lie, we’ve included The Cav mainly for their insanely good share plates. Tacos, sliders, Buffalo wings, dusted garlic calamari, garlic buttered baguettes, all beautifully put together and presented, and all sure to please the whole office. A couple of shared plates paired with your favourite choice of beverage, and you’ve got a winner.

Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen

Modern New Zealand
7 Sale Street, Freeman's Bay
Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen

Sweat Shop is an old classic–Complete with live music, an on-site brewery, and a buzzing social atmosphere. The outdoor deck is the perfect spot to sit back and sip back in summer, looking down over Victoria Park. Otherwise, head inside for a cosier experience and possible brewery tour before trying your hand at a game of pool. Head down in the sweet spot between 4 and 6 pm, and you’ll be greeted with $8 Hoppy Hour (come down any earlier than 4pm, and you’ll be treating yourself to a $10 lunch).
