Lucky for us, Auckland CBD has some of the best high teas on offer-So get into your frilliest frock (and it’s 2020, so your most floral shirt too) and get ready to celebrate with your pinkies out.

Ostro High Tea

We already know Ostro for its spectacular harbor views and sleek modern feel so it’s not surprising high tea gets a makeover here. Running every Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, reservations are essential to get a taste of Josh Emmett’s high tea reimagined. But don’t worry, you’ll still get a delicious array of savoury and sweet delicacies you know high tea for. The current menu boasts a mix of seasonal and local cuisine repackaged in traditional high tea format. Glory Bay salmon sandwiches are accompanied with lemon & poppyseed scones, creating the perfect balance between traditional and uniquely Kiwi. It’s $55 per person with Nobel Savage tea, or really make it an event to remember and splash out for $75 pp with a glass of Veuve Cliquot.

Cordis High Tea

While you may primarily know the Cordis as a 5-star hotel, we can promise you that the high tea here is of similar star quality. Undoubtedly one of the more special occasion spots on this list, high tea is served in The Lobby Lounge, with glittering chandeliers, beautiful flowers, and attentive service to set the scene. With sittings for 11.30 am or 2.30 pm, whether it’s lunching or afternoon-tea–There’s no need to rush. This is the perfect place for a long relaxing afternoon tea with those most special to you. An extensive tea-list is accompanied by delicate hand-crafted sandwiches and desserts, all for $59 weekdays and $69 weekends.

Stamford Plaza High Tea

If it’s relaxation and a sense of luxury you’re after, look no further than the Stamfords High Tea. Looking after you from start to finish, the Stamford has on offer some of the finest teas and delicacies in Auckland. The menu boasts traditional high tea items such as the cucumber wholegrain sandwiches and both vanilla bean and milk-chocolate scones. However, if it’s something a little different you’re after, the grilled artichoke crouton with thyme and manuka honey or signature curry puffs will have you covered. Catering for even your most fitspo friends, there’s even a ‘guilt-free’ menu available giving you literally no excuse not to visit!

Hotel DeBrett High Tea

A true step back in time –The Hotel DeBrett high tea brings a little glamour of the 1920s to your high tea experience. A little bit sophisticated, and a whole lot of fun–The dress code here is Flappers and Dappers. But don’t stress if you don’t have anything on hand, for just $15 on arrival you’ll be decked out with just the accessories you need. Begin your experience with a “Bees Knees” cocktail, a mouth-watering blend of gin and honey to get you started. Deviled eggs, prawn cocktails, and cucumber & cream cheese sandwiches have you covered on the savoury side, while the naughty gin & tonic cupcakes, lemonade scones, and lamingtons will make even the sweetest tooth sing with joy. Head to the Hotel DeBrett Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 pm for an unforgettable experience.

Sofitel High Tea

Set in the Sofitel’s water-filled lobby next to their private marina, t’s impossible not to feel a little bit fancy taking high tea at the Sofitel. Inspired by a long languid Parisian afternoon tea, whether you pick a spot looking out on to the water or choose the sunny terrace – you’ll feel like you’ve gotten a one-way trip to Paris for the bargain of $45 per person (or fly first class, $59 with champagne). The menu consists of delicate leek and mushroom mini quiches, followed by croissants, passionfruit mousse, freshly baked date scones and more! Running every day from 12pm – 3pm, whether it’s a sweet indulgence you’re after or an elegant place to celebrate that special occasion, the Sofitel high tea has you covered.
