New Zealanders are no strangers to the Eat My Lunch initiative, who have provided more than one million nutritious lunches to Kiwi school kids in just four years.
Shockingly, 1 in 4 Kiwi kids go to school with no lunch – A statistic that caused Eat My Lunch to launch in 2015 with the determination to change that figure by delivering school lunches consisting of protein-packed sandwiches, fruits, snacks, and water bottles to almost 80 different schools in Auckland and Wellington.
Now the team at EML want to supply your lunch. The brick-and-mortar shop has now officially opened with help from PledgeMe crowd-funding to raise the $2 million needed to open in the busy Britomart precinct (just over from Mercure Hotel on Customs Street), so you can grab and go in a matter of seconds while putting your money towards something great. The cafe is full of baked goods, fresh filling sandwiches and wraps, gourmet salads, fruit and veg, bottled drinks, on-the-go snacks, and delicious cups of L'affare Coffee. For every $14 you spend, lunch is provided for a child in need – However, don't be afraid to only pop in for a takeaway coffee and support the cause regardless!
Alternatively, if you can't make a run down to Customs Street, opt for their delivery service! Choose a one-off delivery service, or set up a weekly delivery so you have lunch sorted for that day every single week! There's plenty of choice from gluten-friendly, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, or just a classic lunch. With a wide choice of customisations to alter your delivery to your liking, there's an EML option for everyone.
Open from 7am Monday to Friday, make Eat My Lunch Britomart your next out-of-office work lunch destination!
