It's one of the best times of the year – The Great New Zealand Toastie Takeover. Run by McClure's Pickles and Cook & Nelson, they're responsible for the one time of the year it's encouraged to make a toasted sandwich bucket list and eat your way around town.
The takeover sees more than 80 eateries up and down the country create their own unique toasted sandwich combo, from the bread to the fillings and garnishes, competing for the ultimate Toastie Title. Commencing Monday 29th June, 12 finalists will be announced on August 3rd, with the winner announced on September 2nd.
Joining in on the competition this year is Auckland's very own Burger Boy. The downtown eatery is synonymous with great burgers for great value and the perfect late-night feed. Introducing their Goud-a Boy.
The creative team at Burger Boy has taken only premium ingredients and combined pastrami, pepperoni, smoked gouda cheese, McClure's bread & butter pickles, red onion, spinach, tomato, truffle mayo, and southwest mustard to create a mammoth sandwich in the hopes of taking home the 2020 title.
For only $11, it's a steal – and, of course, it's limited edition and won't be around for long. To get your hands on a front-runner in the competition, head to Burger Boy (149 Quay Street, Downtown CBD) to be apart of something big!
