If there's one thing Aucklanders love – it's a good festival, particularly a food festival. While COVID may have hindered the full potential number of food festivals that were due to take place this year, thankfully, we're holding on to the few that are still commencing. An exciting inclusion to that small number includes the Loaded Mac n Cheese Fest hosted by K'Road's very own The Pie Piper.
The North American-inspired bakery has been running since 2017, which is impressive considering the amount of traction and following they've been able to create in three short years.
As one of Auckland's best spots to grab a serving of American comfort food, it's no wonder their macaroni and cheese dishes are one of their most sought-after items – popular enough to have their own two-day festival.
The Pie Piper's Loaded Mac n Cheese Festival will take place on the 19th & 20th of September, 8am-8pm (Alert Level 1 pending, fingers crossed).
Over the two days, there'll be a spotlight on their mac n cheese dishes, with a variety of flavours to try including their Morepork BBQ Beef & Bacon Mac for the meat-lovers, their Hot Buffalo MacClassic for the spice-lovers, Caprese Motza Mac for the fancy-eaters, Corn Dog Pups & Mac for the adventurous-eaters, and Broccoli Almond Mac & Three Mushroom Mac for vegan mac n cheese-lovers.
Whatever you're in to, there's a Pie Piper Mac n Cheese for you.
The Pie Piper have also hinted they'll have a range of to-die-for desserts to go along with your chosen mac's. We're thinking (and hoping) American milkshakes, filled doughnuts, and their infamous dessert pies.
Book out the 19th & 20th of September and make sure you head along in your stretchiest pants because you'll want to try as much as possible from the line-up of comfort-food.
The festival will take place at 321 Karangahape Road from 8am on both days, all you need to bring along is yourself! For all the details and any updates, keep an eye on the event page here.
