There's been excitement buzzing in the air about Commercial Bay for quite some time now. Set to open later this month, the final foodie line up has been announced, with a grand total of 34 new venues and cult favourites setting up shop in Commercial Bay's Harbour Eats precinct.
Located on level two of Commercial Bay in downtown Auckland, Harbour Eats will be home to more than 650 new seats and 34 new vendors ranging from fine dining and late-night bars to easy-going cafes and business-casual lunch spots. As well as incorporating a range of international cuisines from Middle Eastern and Vietnamese to Greek and South American.
The gastronomic precinct will be an all-day dining spot, available as your new favourite breakfast spot leading into a sophisticated dinner and drinks setting.
Some phenomenal stand-outs include Public from the mastermind behind Bedford Soda & Liquor, Matt Nicholls. The bar concept of Public will include a smoothie and coffee bar for early in the day, leading into expertly-crafted cocktails and a carefully curated wine and beer list in the evening, making it the perfect place to enjoy a drink before or after your meal.
Auckland duo Oliver Simon and David Lee, the creators behind The Candy Shop, Simon & Lee, and Major Sprout will be opening two new ventures inside Harbour Eats. Contemporary Korean eatery Gochu and gourmet loaded hotdog station Good Dog Bad Dog will both receive permanent homes.
Distinguished chef Yukio Ozeki, who is behind Ponsonby's Azabu and Britomart's Ebisu, is bringing a bit of Japanese culture to Commercial Bay with his third venture, Oji Sushi, serving up fresh Japanese fare.
Auckland Fish Market resident Billypot will be opening their second restaurant in Harbour Eats, bringing the freshest seafood (their infamous oysters included) to downtown. As well as opening their venture into Spanish cuisine with the opening of The Paella Pod, introducing a slice of Spain to Commercial Bay.
Don't think we've forgotten about the plant-based eaters out there! Vegans and plant-based diners will be pleasantly surprised and well-accommodated too of course, with the addition of cult favourites Tart Bakery, Bowl & Arrow, and Wise Boys opening their doors for all your vegan junk food cravings.
Aside from the exciting brand new offerings opening up shop, there'll also be quick pit-stop and more casual vendors throughout Commercial Bay, with the addition of some of New Zealand's best-loved brands such as Ben & Jerry's, Best Ugly Bagels, Burger Burger, Juke Joint, Kai Eatery, Daruma Ramen, Fatima's, and Hawker & Roll.
Set to open late March, it's going to be hard choosing where to dine first! For the full list of exciting eateries, head over to Commercial Bay's website.
