Iconic Auckland restaurateurs Sid & Chand Sahrawat have announced their plan for takeaways in Alert Level 3. The originators behind SidArt, Cassia, and The French Cafe, three of Auckland's most well-known and beloved restaurants, will begin offerings at all venues on Tuesday 28th April – with preorders open now. Our mouths are already watering for next week!
Sid has worked closely with his expert chefs to create a temporary menu of dishes that are travel-safe, while still representing the values and cuisines each venue is best known for.
Lunch will be available for order Wednesday to Friday, and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, with staff delivering meals contactless via Flamingo e-scooters or by personal car with insulated backpacks. Delivery is $8 and available for houses in a 3km radius of their chosen restaurant, but they can deliver further for orders $250 or more. Everything will arrive in eco-friendly and compostable delivery bags, with heating instructions provided if necessary. Alternatively, contactless pick-up will be available.
Now, onto what we're all excited for – the menus!
Ponsonby Road's SidArtAtHome has six dishes on offer, all served with a house-made pull-apart garlic bread, saffron rice, and a weekly-changing dessert for $45 per person. We're ecstatic to see restaurant-favourites such as their Lamb meatballs with almond korma and Tandoori chicken with chettinand sauce. To check out SidArt's full takeaway menu, click here!
CassiaAtHome has taken a more A La Carte approach with snacks, entrees, mains, sides, and desserts consisting of your Cassia favourites from their Beef short rib with spinach and mushroom to their Signature lamb seekh kebab curry. For your first fix of authentic contemporary Indian food outside of level 4, check out Cassia's A La Carte menu here!
Finally, one of Auckland's most prestigious restaurants, Sid at The French Cafe will be offering a Chef's Menu consisting of a classic five-course French meal. For only $45 per person, you can be dining on The French Cafe's Mushroom & truffle lasagne, Beef bourguignon with truffle fries, or Duck à l ‘Orange with kumara, soy and ginger, all served with salad, house-made sourdough and a dessert. Chef Sid says while he's been enjoying plenty of family time, the team is excited to get back in the kitchen again. Level 3 is the time to stay home and support local.
Any orders more than $150 require a phone order to be placed, as well as gift vouchers also accepted via phone orders.
