As we enter one last week of Level 3 lockdown in Auckland, some of us may need a little pick-me-up to get us through the last few days –Especially when the weather is this grisly. What could be a better pick-me-up than a delicious box of doughnuts to curl up with? That's right, not a lot. Which is exactly why we've rounded up the best doughnuts you can get your hands on in Level 3 with contactless takeaways!
And, let's be real. When else are you ever going to be encouraged to do your part supporting local by buying doughnuts?
Patch is still a fairly new opening on the North Shore of Auckland, but they've made such a strong name for themselves with their lush brunch menu, quality coffees, and mesmerising cabinet treats. Their doughnuts are a knock-out every time, created in-house with new flavours daily – we're head over heels for their Raspberry jam and cream doughnuts and classic chocolate doughnuts. To get your hands on some of these, give them a call or text on 02040133770 to place your order for pick-up.
Beaufort + Co
Although their doughnuts are only available on the weekends, these doughnuts from Beaufort + Co are worth the wait. Created in-house with a new doughnut each weekend, we've seen creative flavours come out of Beaufort + Co such as their French Toast, Milo Caramel, Neapolitan, and Apricot Custard Crumble. Each doughnut is usually filled to the brim with a flavoured mascarpone, topped with a drizzle of sauce, and a decadent garnish or two. Not only are they delicious, they're picture-perfect for the 'gram too. To order during Level 3, head in early on a Saturday and place your order at their contactless pickup windows!
Little Bird Kitchen
If you're looking for an allergen-friendly sweet treat, Little Bird Kitchen has you covered. The Ponsonby store is still open for contactless takeaways during Level 3, with their array of raw sweet treats including their Salted Caramel and Chocolate + Raspberry doughnuts. The doughnuts are gluten free and plant-based, meaning they're suitable for a wide-range of diets and pair perfectly with an oat milk flat white from Little Bird. Head over to their website here to place your order, or give them a call on (09) 555-3278 to see what's available in the cabinet today.
If you're closer to East Auckland, you'll be excited to learn of Khaos Cakery, a quaint little cupcake store who puts a lot of effort into their homemade treats. With a menu that changes daily, there's something new and exciting waiting for you to try. Their doughnuts have proved popular with the locals, with flavours including salted caramel, Nutella, vanilla bean custard, raspberry jam, lemon passionfruit, and their take on an "Ugly Donut", which is a classic sugar doughnut. Pop in store to grab a box and a barista-made coffee for the road. Pro Tip: Keep an eye on their Facebook page for special deals near the end of the day!
