Food delivery services have proven such a gift; from taking all the thought and hard work out of deciding what's for dinner and shopping for every ingredient to ensuring you're having a healthy, balanced, and nutritious meal at the end of every day. The trickiest thing about them may just be finding the right food service to suit all your wants and needs, which is why we were so excited to learn there's a new food delivery service hitting the scene in Auckland today!
Introducing Cookalong, the latest food delivery service making things a little bit fancier than usual.
The new service comes from two of Auckland's most well-known and admired chefs – Nic Watt of Akarana Eatery, INCA, and MASU, and Darren Johnson of INCA. Between the two of them, they have 50 years of gastronomy experience under their belt, spanning across the USA, UK, Japan, Peru, and New Zealand.
With a wide realm of knowledge on just what diners like, what works and what doesn't, both chefs are committed to creating delicious recipes for their Cookalong customers using only the best local, seasonal, and fresh produce.
After a soft-opening during Level 3 Lockdown, the dynamic duo are now ready to formally launch Cookalong, Nic stating “Not everyone can dine in and there are occasions where you want a no-fuss but delicious meal solution in your own home”.
“Darren and I will draw on our experiences both in the restaurant and through our travels to create and deliver dishes that we would be proud to serve our friends and family at home."
Cookalong offers three options, with the subscription service menus changing weekly.

This box is equipped with sauté and serve chef-prepared dishes with restaurant sauces and prepared garnishes, such as a Beef and pumpkin ragu with orecchiette and lemon gremolata or the Master stock braised pork belly with daikon, shiitake mushroom, rice and bok choy.
The Three-Night Family Heat and Eat: This is also subscription service from $150 or $12.50 pp per night, serving 4 adults. The heat and eat box comes with delicious meals such as the Chicken, mushroom and hidden veggie pie with wood-roasted cauliflower almond salad, or the Beef cheeks and parsnip mash/tomato, broccoli and toasted almond salad, which simply requires you to heat according to the instructions for the simplest meal.
The Three-Course Date Night: This is a one-off payment box from $99 or $49.50 pp for date night. The three courses combined will take you no longer than 30 minutes to prepare, with dishes such as Salmon tartare (entrée), Ginger miso free-range chicken breast on roasted corn puree with spinach and ruby grapefruit salad (main), and Vanilla bean rice pudding with roasted spiced pineapple (dessert). The date night menu changes fortnightly.
In addition to the meals, the chefs have also launched The Pantry Shop, offering popular house-made INCA sauces and virgin cocktail pre-mixes to be added to your order. Simply add ice and the spirit of your choice to the cocktail mix for a pre-dinner drink and you have a 5-star dining experience in your own home.
